Script Writer's Scribblings

Hey fellas, Marty here. It's been a while! Well... ...it's my first blog, but at least we get new updates on EarthBound Rhapsody! For this update we're giving the dialogue system more attention. There's a lot of new stuff going on, so let's get started and explore the new features!

Wow, such borders, very smooth camera

We're mainly using the cinematic borders, camera movement, and sprite animation all together to give an experience similar to MOTHER 3, which has the most stylish dialogue system. We want this game to have quirky, funny, and cool dialogue, and avoid having an NPC who serves the same role as a sign. With these small yet effective details and excellent writing, we make the game feel more alive.

Code! Don't worry if you don't understand what's this, sometimes I don't either

As we mentioned in a previous blog, we now use [speaker Marty] to stablish who's speaking (I don't actually use the system because HTML freaks out). The new commands are camx and camy. Although at some point we want to add json so you can add your own text (mainly for translation, but if you want Grandma to say ''Sus'', go ahead).

And before we go, I would like to show you a new feature.

Speech bubblezzzzzzz!!!

We want to show emotions, so we will use these for specific situations to show how the characters feel, and they can express their emotions easier with both text and images. An image is worth a million words.

That's all for this month's update! Even if this was a very simple update, we have a lot of stuff in the oven, cooking for you to enjoy soon. Hope to see ya in the next update! Take care!

-Marty
